For their first time ever, two Irondequoit Fire Departments came together to hold a combined swearing in ceremony, swearing in a total of 11 new career firefighters and officers. This idea came to light only a month prior through casual conversation between members of the two departments. Both had a number to either promote or swear in as new firefighters or officers. Over the past two Wednesday nights the Ridge Culver Fire Department has helped participate in operation Goodnight Lights, a coordinated event through RPD Community Affairs Bureau. The area emergency responders gather outside the Golisano Children’s Hospital to display their lights and wave goodnight to the children currently admitted to the hospital.
